Introducing El Copiloto: The AI Assistant for La Terminal
El Copiloto is here to help

Today, we are introducing El Copiloto - an AI assistant to help you craft commands when connected to a remote system using La Terminal.

With El Copiloto, you no longer have to struggle with remembering complex commands or scouring the internet for solutions to your terminal problems. Simply tap the brain icon at the top of any active terminal session and describe your problem in plain English. El Copiloto will then suggest a command you can use to solve it.

Some examples of things that you can do include:

  • “How do I create a new branch using git”
  • “Rename all the jpeg files into jpg”
  • “List the most active Kubernetes pods”
  • “Install the rust compiler”
  • “Change the default shell to powershell”
  • “Extract the name property inside an address in a json file”
  • “Convert a binary property list to XML”
  • “Which process is listening on port 232”
  • “Enable IP forwarding”

El Copiloto knows what operating system you are connected to (Linux, macOS, BSD or Windows), the distribution that you are using (Ubuntu, SUSE, Red Hat) and the shell that you are using, and uses this information to provide suggestions that are relevant to you. The same question will offer different solutions depending on your host environment.

You can fine tune the results by providing additional context and information to El Copiloto, the more information you provide, the crisper the result will be.

El Copiloto is powered by GPT-3, the state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI. Next time that you are stuck in the terminal, rather than switching to Safari to google the answer to a problem, try tapping the brain icon and getting some help.
